Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines important terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle from Us
- To rent a vehicle in Rochdale, you must be a minimum of 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. You are required to possess a valid driving license suitable for the vehicle category, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, valid identification and proof of your current address must be provided, along with payment details and a security deposit. Any further criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payments in Rochdale
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or in person at our Rochdale office. A deposit might be necessary to confirm your booking. The total cost and security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment services.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is required to identify any pre-existing damage. Any such damage should be reported to our staff immediately. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed to confirm the state of the vehicle. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and fees will be applied. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur additional fees, so contact us promptly if you expect a delay. You will also be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during your rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and the applicable excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, or off-road driving is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly forbidden. Sub-letting or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Operating the vehicle outside of the agreed geographical boundaries without proper authorization is also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to immediate rental cancellation and extra fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Rochdale is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Local Legislation
This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
